School Planning (fiction of the apocalypse)

Kailani had been expecting the phone call.
She clicked the news to mute as the soft Irish reel began - the picture continued to show stock footage of the Pueblo ruins, interspersed with a few brief, furtive shots of people in black suits. “Doctor Avonmorea, how can I help you?”
There was, as always, the moment where it seemed as if the Director was remembering how to use modern technology. “Kailani, Doctor Storm. How is Addergoole East doing?”
“As you know, the school is on summer recess right now, but the project itself is proceeding apace.” She stood to take the call into the kitchen; there was no reason Conrad and the children couldn't continue to watch the news. “The class that graduated last week did so with an impressive ninety-two percent class average grade, and House Thysli once again took the House Cup for the year.”
“I admit I was uncertain about your Harry Potter idea, but the plan seems to be working well for you. And the Ellehemaei integration?”
Kai winced. Regine did not seem to comprehend or care about the NSA tapping her phone lines. “The integration is going well so far. We had two such students graduate this year, and expect four more this coming year.”
“Are you ready to take in numbers from the Addergoole Project, then?”
There it was. Kai swallowed. “Have you taken a look at the suggested changes in implementation I sent?”
“Do as you see fit, as long as the end results are as contracted. It's your school, Dean Storm.”
“Yes, ma'am.” How far, exactly, could she push that?
