"Kaia..." Conrad looked at the notes, no longer in scribbles but in a cohesive bulleted list; at the books, back on the shelves; at the photographs, carefully laid out across three monitors. He sighed, a quiet sound that anyone else probably would have missed.

Kailani did not miss much. "Do you see it?" She tried, hard, to not sound too urgent. She was never sure quite how well she managed with things like that.

Conrad fell quiet. She could see his eyes moving as he read over her notes, and as he looked over her photos, the data carefully gathered. "I can see it. But I'm not sure if anyone else will."

"How do I make them see it?" Now, she could hear the way her voice was rising, getting higher-pitched. She took three carefully measured breaths and spoke again, more quietly. "Help me show them."

Conrad sat down next to her and pulled her notes towards him. "I'll see what I can do, beautiful."

“If anyone can do it, it will be you.”
